Heath Reunion 2019

There will be no formal reunion of the Staffordshire Heath Family History Group during 2019. We will however be getting together to commemorate the life of George Heath, The Moorland Poet as this year sees the 175th Anniversary of his birth and 150th Anniversary of his death.

The main Commemorations will take place on Sunday 5th May 2019 which will be the 150th Anniversary of his death. More details will follow but the day will include an exhibition at Horton Village Hall; the older part of the hall was once the village school where George attended lessons.
As part of the exhibition we hope to include a recording of some of George Heath's poems being read by members of the extended Heath family and admirers of his work. If you would like to be part of this project and wish to find out more please contact Melanie at
[ staffsheathfamilyhistory@gmail.com ]

We also thought a lovely way to remember George would be to encourage people to have a go at writing their own poem(s) using themes he found inspiring. Many of his poems were inspired by the world around him particularly Family and Friends, his Faith, Love and the Landscape and Nature around his Moorland home. If you would like to contribute a poem for the exhibition could you please send it together with your full name to [ staffsheathfamilyhistory@gmail.com ]

Further details about the Commemorations will be added to the website as they are confirmed please also see our Facebook group page - Staffordshire Heath Family History - for more information.
