Could anyone please clarify whether these details are about more than one George Heath family?
There is a George Heath birth registered the fourth quarter 1881, Leek Staffordshire. It seems this will be the George Heath baptised Horton St Michael Staffordshire on the 15th January 1882. George is the son of Jane Ann Heath. Living Gratton, Staffordshire.
On the 1901 census there was a George Heath aged 19 living at 53 Newland Street Hanley Staffordshire, as a boarder. Occupation carter. Born Gratton, near Leek, Staffordshire.
By the 1911 census George Heath was living at 53 Derby Street, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent aged 30, born Horton Living with his wife Fanny and their two sons.
George Heath served in the First World War, joining around early December 1915. Address 43 Argyle Street, Shelton, Stoke-on-Trent.
Service Number T/438800
Regiment: Royal Army Service Corps
Unit Battalion 2nd Mechanical Transport company.
Details of marriage
Married Fanny Copeland on the 28th January 1905 St Mark’s Shelton.
Details of children all born Hanley
George Alexander Heath, born the 21st September 1907. Seems to have married Hilda Turnock at Northwood Holy Trinity. Stoke-on-Trent.
1939 register, living at 17 Derby Street, Stoke-on-Trent C.B. Occupation Packing and Warehouse Clerk.
Maurice Sydney (Morris Sidney) Heath born the 4th July 1909. Seems to have married Joyce Margaret Carter in 1934 at Uttoxeter St Mary The Virgin Staffordshire.
Annie Millicent Heath born the 29th May1912. Seems to have married Reginald S Corn in the third quarter of 1939.
If this is the Annie Corn living 1939 register at The Square, Drayton, Shropshire she and Reginald would have married before the 29th September the date the register was taken.
Also the date of birth was given as the 28th May 1912 instead of the 29th May 1912. Both the dates are taken from the original documents. I have not seen the birth certificate.
Reginald’s occupation was given as Grocer and General Stores.
In 1939 George Heath was living 33 Etruria Vale Road Stoke-on-Trent C.B. Occupation Railway Labourer. Date of birth given as the 14th September 1881. Also
Fanny Ellison (Heath)
Staffordshire Births Marriage and Deaths shows a Fanny Heath marrying James Ellison civil marriage Stoke-on-Trent 1948.
So we know George Heath died between the 29th September 1939 and 1948 when his widow remarries.
The evidence is George Heath died the 5th February 1943 of Etruria Vale Road Shelton Staffordshire. Administration to Fanny Heath widow on the 2 March 1943 Llandudno. Effects £1120.
Etruria Vale Road is within walking distance of where the world famous potter Josiah Wedgwood had his works in Etruria. In George Heath’s lifetime it was then Shelton Iron and Steel, known locally as Shelton Bar.
By 1986 it was the home of the Garden Festival. And now it is known as Festival Park, which is mainly shops.
